PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rasmus Vinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Eduardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eduardo comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Welcome To The Jungle kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rasmus Vinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil Eduardo!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eduardo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Vinn is fending him off so far but Eduardo persists. Nope, Vinn circles away and we're back to standing.

Vinn gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Eduardo jumps into guard, dragging Vinn to the mat.

Vinn thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Vinn advances position into side control!
Eduardo struggling a bit here.
Vinn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Eduardo keeps working.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Vinn looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Eduardo is looking for a sweep.
Eduardo wants to control but Vinn postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vinn fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Vinn is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Eduardo has escaped the position, nice work there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Eduardo blocks a head kick by Vinn.
Eduardo closes the distance and clinches up with Vinn, looking for a takedown. Eduardo pushes Vinn against the cage but Vinn circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Vinn decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Eduardo manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Eduardo keeping moving, preventing Vinn from controlling successfully.

Vinn is looking to stand up but Eduardo won't let him.
Vinn is breathing heavily.
Vinn looking to pass the guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Eduardo moves out of range as Vinn throws a body kick.
Vinn throws a nice head kick!
Eduardo misses with a takedown
and Vinn counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Rasmus Vinn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Eduardo.
Vinn gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Eduardo counters with a series of strikes. Vinn will be more careful next time no doubt.
Eduardo looks to land a combination but Vinn avoids it well.

Eduardo clinches.
Eduardo drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Vinn breaks from the clinch.

Vinn takes the fight into the clinch.

Eduardo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rasmus Vinn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vinn avoids the head kick by Eduardo.

Vinn closes the distance and clinches.

Vinn has clasped his hands together around Eduardo's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Eduardo can't do much from the bottom here.

Vinn decides to stand back up.
Eduardo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vinn circles away.

Vinn moves into range and clinches up with Eduardo.

Vinn manages to break the clinch.
Vinn scores with a head kick.

Vinn clinches up against the cage.

Vinn breaks the clinch.
Vinn throws a head kick that Eduardo semi-blocks.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Vinn rushes Eduardo and presses him up against the cage.

Vinn pulls guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Eduardo won't allow Vinn to sweep him here.

Vinn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Eduardo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Vinn is tightening it up a little... Eduardo has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Eduardo reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Eduardo taps out! nice BJJ there by Vinn!
