PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Maynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cyril Lorena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Maynard might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Bat Country. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lorena tries a head kick but it misses.
Lorena with a lazy takedown attempt
and Maynard counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Lorena shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Maynard counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Maynard is looking to clinch but Lorena is avoiding it.
Maynard tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Lorena manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A shot to the body from Maynard misses

and Lorena counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Maynard!
Maynard is desperately trying to improve his position but Lorena has a good base and remains in mount.
Poor strikes thrown by Lorena there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Lorena moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Maynard has worked his arm free - good work by Maynard!

Maynard is trying to control Lorena's posture but Lorena avoids it.
Maynard manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Lorena is trying to control the action in half guard but Maynard is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Maynard slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Maynard has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lorena stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Maynard throws up his legs and catches Lorena in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Lorena tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Maynard! That came out of nowhere!
