Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Davi Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Niko Batchiska!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batchiska avoids a punch combination nicely.
Batchiska has his takedown stuffed
and Alves counters with a straight right hand.
Alves scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Alves not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Batchiska is trying to stand back up but Alves is controlling him
Alves lands with a punch from half guard.
Batchiska wants to get back to his feet.
Batchiska pushes Alves off and gets back to his feet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Alves. Batchiska does a little dance to reset his feet.
Batchiska with a poor takedown
and Alves counters with a thumping low kick.
Alves waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Batchiska.
Batchiska tries to bum rush Alves with a series of wild strikes but Alves uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Alves connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Alves lands a nice leg kick that just misses Batchiska's sensitive parts.
Batchiska connects with a high kick.
Good leg kick by Alves there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Alves connects with a nice looking jab.
Alves looks to land a right hand but Batchiska moved out of range.
Batchiska misses with a double jab
and Alves counters with a three punch combo that has Batchiska backing up. Batchiska nods at Alves to acknowledge the strikes.
Alves misses with an uppercut
and Batchiska counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Batchiska seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Alves is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Alves looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Alves has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Batchiska wants to stand but Alves has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Alves has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Batchiska. Oh but Alves has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Batchiska goes limp - he's gone! Alves jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
