Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thaigo Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rampage Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen all the lights as his entrance music. Thaigo Aldo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aldo gets a takedown into half guard.
Jackson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Aldo is working away from the top position though.

Aldo decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Aldo kicks off Jackson and gets to his feet.
Aldo throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Jackson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Aldo's guard.
Jackson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Aldo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jackson is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Aldo throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Aldo is looking for a triangle but Jackson pushes his legs off easily.
Aldo pulls Jackson in close to prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Thaigo Aldo.

Jackson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Aldo regains half guard.
Aldo controlling the position for now.
Aldo works his way to full guard. Good work.
Aldo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jackson looks gassed!

Aldo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Aldo wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Aldo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Aldo pushes Jackson off and gets back to his feet.
Aldo tries to land a front kick but Jackson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Aldo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jackson sprawls well initially but Aldo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Aldo is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Aldo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Aldo decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Aldo misses with a body shot.
Aldo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jackson manages to avoid it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Aldo tries to clinch but Jackson is having none of it.
Aldo throws a nice looking combination but Jackson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Aldo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Aldo closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jackson quickly recovers to half guard.
Aldo perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Aldo passes the guard and advances to mount!
Aldo sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Aldo misses with a head shot.
Jackson regains half guard.
Jackson is breathing heavily.
Aldo is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Aldo's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Aldo stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Aldo is looking to clinch but Jackson is avoiding it.

Aldo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jackson is trying to defend but Aldo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Aldo decides to return to a standing position.

Aldo scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Aldo is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Jackson's shoulder. That is not cool.
Aldo in side control, throwing shots but Jackson defends.
Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aldo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jackson is letting Aldo control him for a moment.

Aldo has hold of Jackson's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Jackson tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Aldo cranks the arm and Jackson screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Jackson, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
