Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves keeps the fight on the outside.
A looping hook to the body misses from Costinha. Alves does a little dance to reset his feet.
Costinha lands a high kick!
Alves avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Alves shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Alves sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Costinha really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Costinha is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

BOOM! Alves connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Alves takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Costinha is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Victor Alves.

Alves throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Costinha was covering up waiting for the punch and Alves finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Alves postures up in Costinha's guard and throws a big left but Costinha blocks it.
Alves stays in close to Costinha's body and controls the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Alves gets to his feet. Costinha looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Costinha looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Alves shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Costinha as he avoids it easily.
Costinha scoring well with a low kick there.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Alves crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Costinha - the referee stops the clock and Alves gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Costinha. Alves manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Alves tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Costinha swivels and escapes.

and Costinha counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Victor Alves. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Alves is breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Costinha looking to sit in guard and control but Alves gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That was a close round but I would say that Victor Alves will probably get the nod.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Alves is defended easily by Costinha.
Costinha misses with a double jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alves shoots in but Costinha avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Alves counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Alves.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Alves decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Costinha, up you get!
Costinha throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Costinha gets caught flat footed, as Alves shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Costinha is looking to stand up but Alves isn't so interested in that idea.
Costinha controls Alves momentarily but Alves frees himself.
Alves prevents Costinha from getting back to his feet.

Alves sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Alves has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Victor Alves wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Costinha misses with a body punch

and Alves counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Alves slips a nice elbow through Costinha's hands, connecting with Costinha's forehead.

Alves changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Costinha looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Alves closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Costinha seems a little lost for a moment, as Alves dominates the positioning.

Costinha takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
