The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Gonzalez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Smith sprawls well initially but Gonzalez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Smith manages to get to full guard.
Smith lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gonzalez!
Gonzalez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Gonzalez throws a hook to the side of Smith's head but Smith sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Gonzalez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Gonzalez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Smith had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gonzalez is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Smith Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gonzalez's back instead.

You can see the frustration on Gonzalez's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Gonzalez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smith is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Gonzalez has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
