The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kid fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Thay looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Kid moves into the clinch.

Thay gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Kid regains guard.

Kid is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kid is controlling Thay's posture.
Thay preventing the sweep.

Thay drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kid manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Thay has Kid in his guard.
Kid postures up in Thay's guard and throws a big left but Thay blocks it.
Thay is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Kid is looking for a triangle but Thay pushes his legs off easily.

Thay throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kid works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kid will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Thay wanted to stand there but Kid had control of the position.

Thay drops back looking for a leg! Kid is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kid manages to kick Thay off! Thay jumps back into Kid's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kid looking for a sweep. Not yet Kid, not yet.

Kid looking for a guillotine here but Thay defends easily.
Kid avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Thay must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kid isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Thay stacks Kid on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Thay!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kid is looking to reverse the position.

Kid tries to escape but Thay is in control.
Kid tries to improve position but can't.
Kid manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Kid is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Thay is just riding it out for now. Kid eventually gives up the hold.
Kid wants to take a breather but Thay is having none of it.
Thay wants to get back to full guard.
Kid slows the pace down in half guard.

Kid is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kid is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Thay defends it well.
Thay tries to roll over but Kid keeps him under control.

Thay is defending against the submission attempts here by Kid.
Thay wants to control but Kid is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Kid wants to work for an arm triangle but Thay is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kid missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Kid wants to free his trapped foot but Thay is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Thay wants to get back to full guard but Kid has mounted him!

Alex Kid overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kid has control of Thay's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Thay regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kid with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Kid looking to control but Thay is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Kid looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kid is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Thay can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Thay reaches up to try and control the position but Kid seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Thay rolls and tries to escape and now Kid has his back!

Kid wants to control but Thay is keeping busy.
Thay tries to break free.
Thay is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Kid off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Kid is trying to stick to Thay's back but Thay is turning into Kid. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Kid's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Thay.

Kid has his foot on Thay's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Thay works his way back into a safe position though.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Kid here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Kid manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Thay tries to hold on but Kid postures up.

Kid is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Thay can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Thay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kid. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
