Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mihail Mansurov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Doh Ma Mai!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mai stuffs the takedown.
Mansurov shoots in looking for a takedown but Mai manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mansurov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mansurov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mai circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mihail Mansurov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mai scores with a head kick. Mansurov tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Mansurov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Mansurov throws some wild stikes that Mai manages to avoid easily.

Mansurov swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mai is now in Mansurov's guard. A big mistake from Mansurov there, giving up the dominant position!
Mai tries to stand but Mansurov is controlling from the bottom.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mai won't allow Mansurov to sweep him here.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Mihail Mansurov just wasn't active enough.
Mai moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Good leg kick by Mai there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Mansurov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mai's waist but Mai gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mansurov off to one side.
Mai scores with a head kick. Mansurov tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Mansurov closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mansurov lands in his opponent's guard.

Mansurov postures up in Mai's guard and throws a big left but Mai blocks it.

Mihail Mansurov has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Mansurov fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mai avoids it really well and circles away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mansurov dives in and grabs Mai's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mai pushes down on Mansurov's head and hops out.

Mansurov shoots for a takedown but Mai saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Mansurov stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Mai.

We're going to have a standup here because Mihail Mansurov wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Mansurov throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mai was covering up waiting for the punch and Mansurov finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mansurov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mai is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mansurov, into his guard.

Mansurov scrambles and gets back to his feet.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Mansurov.

Mansurov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mansurov is defended easily by Mai.

Mansurov shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mai manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mai pushes Mansurov off looking to stand but Mansurov dives back in and keeps control.
Mansurov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mai with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Mansurov perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Mansurov slips a nice elbow through Mai's hands, connecting with Mai's forehead.
Mansurov is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mai!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That has opened up Doh Ma Mai's cut even more.
Mihail Mansurov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mansurov lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Doh Ma Mai has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mihail Mansurov is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.


The cut above Doh Ma Mai's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Mansurov blocks Mai's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mansurov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
