The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Abu Bakhar shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

de Souza throws a head kick but Abu Bakhar moves out of range.

Abu Bakhar throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. de Souza was covering up waiting for the punch and Abu Bakhar finishes the takedown easily into guard.

de Souza is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Abu Bakhar is controlling him.

Abu Bakhar passes de Souza's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Abu Bakhar is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so de Souza is just riding it out for now. Abu Bakhar eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

de Souza will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Abu Bakhar lunges at de Souza with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by de Souza's hand.
Robson de Souza is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Abu Bakhar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Abu Bakhar has hold of de Souza's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! de Souza tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Abu Bakhar cranks the arm and de Souza screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from de Souza, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
