The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hoff uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Viina.
Hoff throws a leg kick which misses Viina's front leg but catches the back leg as Viina tries to avoid it.

Viina does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Viina comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

and Viina counters with a slapping leg kick.
Hoff feints a jab promting Viina to slip. Hoff then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Viina slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Viina throws a hook to the side of Hoff's head but Hoff sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Hoff is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Viina.
Kirch Hoff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Viina tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Hoff throws a lazy right hand but Viina sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Hoff closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Viina lands a nice shot to the body.

Hoff misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Viina.
Hoff tries to throw a body punch but Viina avoids it by throwing Hoff back against the cage.
Viina is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.

Viina fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hoff has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Hoff takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Jalo Viina seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Hoff throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Viina's jab looks to have found its range, popping Hoff under the eye.

and Viina counters with a huge left! Hoff is in big trouble! He's backing up but Viina isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Hoff from any more damage. A dominating finish by Viina!
