Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Greg Aertz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Art Imperator (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Greg Aertz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Art Imperator!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aertz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Imperator quickly recovers to half guard.
Aertz misses with a head shot. Imperator uses the momentum to regain guard.
Imperator wants to get back to his feet but Aertz is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Aertz scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Imperator wants to stand but Aertz is controlling the position.

Aertz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Imperator on the ground.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Aertz wants to get up but he can't break Imperator's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Imperator is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Aertz is controlling him.

Aertz has gone for a leg lock! Imperator slips out almost immediately though and dives into Aertz's guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Aertz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Imperator can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Aertz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Imperator doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Imperator manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Aertz thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Imperator drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Imperator jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Aertz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Aertz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Imperator gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Aertz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Imperator defends well.

Aertz has his foot on Imperator's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Imperator works his way back into a safe position though.

Imperator got a little sloppy there for a moment and Aertz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Imperator has managed to get both his arms back between Aertz's legs - danger averted.

Imperator loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Aertz is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Imperator rolls with it to try and escape but Aertz cranks on the arm and Imperator is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
