The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

petrov drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
baggins is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
baggins is not content to let petrov control the position.

petrov trying to control the action but baggins is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
petrov wants to stand but baggins has his arm trapped.

petrov is looking to take a break and control but baggins is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
petrov tries to clinch up.
bilbo baggins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
petrov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says baggins as he avoids it easily.
baggins swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
baggins is breathing heavily.

baggins scores a takedown into full mount!
petrov is looking to improve his position but baggins isn't that keen on the idea.
petrov tries to hold on but baggins postures up.
petrov bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
petrov passes into half guard.
petrov wants to stand but baggins has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

baggins wants to get back to full guard.
baggins is pressing down on petrov's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
baggins is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
baggins is looking to stand up but petrov isn't so interested in that idea.
petrov won't allow baggins to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
baggins is working hard here to advance position.

baggins working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. petrov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. petrov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
petrov smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
baggins tries a head kick but it misses.

baggins fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. petrov sprawls well initially but baggins persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
baggins thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed petrov's head.

baggins trying to mount his opponent but petrov defends it.

petrov is defending against the submission attempts here by baggins.
baggins sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. petrov defending well though.
petrov on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
baggins tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

baggins gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
baggins shoots in for a takedown but petrov shows good takedown defense.
A head kick misses from petrov.
petrov bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops baggins! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

baggins is rocked!
petrov wants to stand but baggins is controlling his posture from full guard.
Oh baggins is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
baggins looking for a sweep. Not yet baggins, not yet.
baggins seems to have got his legs back now.

petrov slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

petrov tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
petrov works to advance to full mount. baggins defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
petrov wants to get back to his feet but baggins is holding on tight.
baggins tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
petrov manages to capitalize on a mistake by baggins to take his back!
baggins is really stuck here.
baggins is trying to stand back up.
petrov trying to control momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but dmitri petrov will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

baggins drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

petrov had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. baggins is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. petrov Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take baggins's back instead.
petrov controlling well, preventing baggins from escaping the position.

baggins defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of petrov's arms.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
petrov has the hooks in. baggins is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

petrov has got one arm under baggins's chin. This could be trouble... baggins trying to control the other hand but petrov gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, baggins has tapped out! The fight is over!
