Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Warren Sap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Cades (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Cades has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Warren Sap!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Cades!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sap shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cades but Cades pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Sap shoots for a takedown but Cades saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Sap feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Sap prevents Cades from getting back to his feet.

Cades is looking to stand up but Sap isn't so interested in that idea.
Sap is in close to Cades's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Cades wriggles free and stands up.

Sap changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cades looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sap is putting a hurting on Cades here, landing some big shots from side control.
Sap throws an elbow but Cades slips to the side and avoids it well.

Cades sneaks out the side door and pushes Sap away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Sap swats away the attempt to clinch by Cades.
Sap circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sap shoots in for a double leg but Cades sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Warren Sap. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cades throws a head kick but Sap moves out of range.
Cades is looking to clinch.
Mike Cades is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Sap darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Sap has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cades is trying to stand up here but Sap is controlling him well.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sap connects with a nice short shot to Cades's temple.

Cades has one foot on Sap's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Cades looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Sap closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sap lands in his opponent's guard.
Cades has momentary wrist control but Sap slips an elbow through the middle.
Sap stops Cades from standing up.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Sap loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Sap trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Sap lands a couple of elbows.
Sap with a flurry of punches that miss.
Sap missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Sap looking to pass the guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Cades tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Sap will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sap circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sap shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cades but Cades pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Cades fails in his attempt to clinch.
Both fighters circling a little - Cades finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Cades throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Sap stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Cades follows into mount!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cades stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Oh Sap is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cades tries to clinch but Sap is having none of it.

Cades tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sap swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cades throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cades misses with a double jab.
Horrible takedown by Sap or perhaps it was just good defense by Cades which made him look bad.
Cades tries to clinch up but Sap circles away and keeps his distance.
Sap swats away the attempt to clinch by Cades.
Sap seems to have got his legs back now.
Sap fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Cades throws a front kick that sends Sap stumbling back into the cage.
Cades misses the shot to the body.
Cades tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sap paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Sap drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sap stands and throws Cades's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Cades is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Sap asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Cades is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Cades is pushing Sap's head away, looking to escape. Sap manages to hold on to the position though.
Sap landing a few strikes.
Cades is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Sap has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sap in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Cades is still in real trouble! Can Sap finish him?

Cades on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Sap lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Cades prevents Sap from moving into mount.
Cades is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Sap asserts his dominance and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Warren Sap will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Cades seems to have recovered his senses.
Cades is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Sap scores with a couple of nice shots.
Sap stops Cades from getting back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sap landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Sap is pressing down on Cades's thigh, looking to free his foot. Cades is holding on for now.
Sap throwing shots but Cades is blocking nicely.
Cades pushes Sap off looking to stand but Sap dives back in and keeps control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cades wants to clinch up but Sap keeps it at a distance.
Cades pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cades is breathing heavily.
Sap shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cades pinned against the cage. Cades gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Cades gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Cades is looking to stand up but Sap isn't so interested in that idea.
Sap tries to free his leg and advance position but Cades is retaining full guard.
Cades preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Cades wants to get back to his feet but Sap is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Sap thows a big elbow that misses.
Cades working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sap.
Sap stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cades swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Cades throws a nice looking combination but Sap bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Sap shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sap showed some decent athleticism there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sap scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Cades is trying to stand up here but Sap is controlling him well.
Sap wants to pass the guard but Cades is defending well.

Sap throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Cades wants to get back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cades is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cades throws a sloppy head kick and Sap moves out of range easily.
Sap avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cades wants to clinch up but Sap keeps it at a distance.
Cades connects with a nice cross there... Sap is looking wobbly and Cades recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Sap to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Cades jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Mike Cades!
