PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Walls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walls has chosen Last Resort - Papa Roach as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jon Hansen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Brandon Walls!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hansen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Walls can't do much from the bottom here.

Walls is not content to let Hansen control the position.
Hansen is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Walls is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Hansen postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Hansen is working Walls over with some ground and pound from side control.
Hansen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hansen creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Walls sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Hansen misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Hansen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walls keeps working.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Walls is refusing to be controlled, as Hansen sits in half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Walls can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hansen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Hansen thows a huge punch but Walls dodges it nicely.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Walls tries to clinch up
and Hansen counters with a stiff right hand.
Hansen slips a straight right by Walls.
Walls moves to clinch but Hansen breaks away
and Hansen counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Walls feints and then cracks Hansen's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hansen down.
Hansen checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Hansen takes a shot right to the bread basket.
A big left from Walls misses.
Walls misses with an uppercut.
Hansen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Walls circles away.
Hansen scores with a decent looking hook.

and Hansen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Walls won't be happy with that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Walls holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Hansen tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Hansen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Walls is looking to escape.
Hansen thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Hansen landing strikes from the mount and Walls is in trouble!
Hansen wants to control but Walls has made it back to half guard. Nice work.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jon Hansen.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hansen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
