PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cliff Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Xayle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xayle has chosen Another Me - Peroxwhy?gen / Dale Oliver as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xayle shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Harris counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Xayle shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Harris makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Harris.
Harris manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Xayle manages to get himself to full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Harris accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Xayle closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Xayle gets to mount! Harris was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Xayle is looking to take a break and control but Harris is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Xayle might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Harris kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

OK we're going to have a standup here. John Xayle hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Xayle on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Xayle's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

John Xayle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
