Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Koepfer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koepfer comes to the cage accompanied by Mongol. Hunter is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The DOC vs Earshot. Stephen Koepfer is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stephen Koepfer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Hunter!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Steve Montenegro and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koepfer shoots and misses
enabling Hunter to counter with a crisp jab.
Koepfer with a lazy takedown attempt
and Hunter counters with a nice uppercut.
Koepfer takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Hunter doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Koepfer counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Koepfer drops an elbow to the side of Hunter's head.

Koepfer is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Koepfer is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Koepfer is stalling here. Hunter is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Koepfer seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hunter has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

You can see the frustration on Koepfer's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Koepfer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hunter goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Koepfer turns into him and now he's in Hunter's guard.

Koepfer tries to free his leg and advance position but Hunter is retaining full guard.
Koepfer stands up over Hunter, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Hunter has his foot on Koepfer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Koepfer works his way back into a safe position though.

Hunter is looking for a triangle but Koepfer pushes his legs off easily.

Koepfer drops back looking for a leg! Hunter is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hunter manages to kick Koepfer off! Koepfer jumps back into Hunter's guard.
Koepfer has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hunter is proving hard to escape from.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Koepfer wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.
Koepfer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Hunter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Koepfer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Koepfer tries to free his leg and advance position but Hunter is retaining full guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Koepfer perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Koepfer seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hunter for as long as he can get away with.

We're going to have a standup here because Stephen Koepfer wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Koepfer is looking for a kimura but Hunter is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Koepfer to get the leverage.

Koepfer is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hunter sees it coming and defends easily.

Koepfer is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Hunter is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Koepfer controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Koepfer is in close to Hunter's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Koepfer gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Koepfer misses with a takedown attempt
and Hunter counters with a left and a right that stings Koepfer.
Koepfer shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Hunter counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Koepfer!

Hunter working for a submission but Koepfer is keeping him at bay.

Hunter jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Koepfer is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Koepfer and Hunter has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Koepfer tries to improve position but can't.

Hunter tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hunter has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stephen Koepfer dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Koepfer tries to lock up and control but Hunter gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hunter wants to control the action but instead Koepfer gets a body lock and reverses into Hunter's guard! Nice work!

Koepfer gets to his feet - Hunter follows without any prompting.
A head kick by Koepfer misses
and Hunter counters with a one-two to the body.

and Hunter counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Koepfer looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hunter puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Hunter uses his free foot to push down on Koepfer's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Koepfer.
Hunter can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Koepfer is looking to escape.
Koepfer really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Hunter wants to control the pace but Koepfer is squirming around nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hunter swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Koepfer is now in Hunter's guard. A big mistake from Hunter there, giving up the dominant position!

Koepfer has gone for a leg lock! Hunter slips out almost immediately though and dives into Koepfer's guard.
Koepfer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jake Hunter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hunter trying to control the position from guard on top but Koepfer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Koepfer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jake Hunter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Koepfer has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
