PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cacareco Chuteboxe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Turtchin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rodrigo Turtchin told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Turtchin!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Mauricio Rocha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turtchin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chuteboxe sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Turtchin somewhat.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Chuteboxe throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Turtchin was covering up waiting for the punch and Chuteboxe finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Rodrigo Turtchin has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Turtchin closes the distance and pushes Chuteboxe back into the cage.

Turtchin is trying to trip Chuteboxe. He has hold of a leg but Chuteboxe is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Turtchin persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Turtchin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Chuteboxe with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

No joy there for Chuteboxe, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Turtchin wants to clinch up but Chuteboxe keeps it at a distance.
Chuteboxe shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Turtchin as he avoids it easily.
Turtchin closes the distance and clinches up with Chuteboxe, looking for a takedown. Turtchin pushes Chuteboxe against the cage but Chuteboxe circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Turtchin is working to tighten is grip on Chuteboxe's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Chuteboxe has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Turtchin is really squeezing tight and eventually Chuteboxe passes out! Turtchin breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
