Drew Pinksy will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Pinksy did well to prevent Jones getting side control.
Jones passes to side control.
Pinksy is working to avoid the ground and pound but Jones connects with a decent elbow.
Jones throws a strike aimed at the side of Pinksy's head but Pinksy avoids it well.
Pinksy managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Jones.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones wants to control but Pinksy is keeping him busy.

Pinksy stalks Jones and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Jones's face. Jones staggers backwards, shaken.
It looks like Jamal Jones has been cut.
Pinksy throws a right and a left that both miss.
Pinksy misses with a two punch combination.
Jones fails with a takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Pinksy. No joy for Jones on that attempt.

Pinksy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it.
Pinksy catches Jones with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Drew Pinksy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Pinksy throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range.

A close round but Drew Pinksy will probably get the nod.

That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pinksy sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pinksy sprawls well. Pinksy wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.
Jones throws a leg kick that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Pinksy counters with a right hand to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Pinksy misses the jab.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Pinksy tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pinksy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Pinksy lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Pinksy throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily.
Jones fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Pinksy missing with a left hand there. Jones was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Donk. Pinksy catches Jones right on the button with a cross.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones.
Jones has a takedown stuffed.
Jones shoots and misses
and Pinksy finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Pinksy uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pinksy lands a leg kick that knocks Jones off balance momentarily.
Pinksy sends Jones crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Pinksy is motioning to the referee to let Jones up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Jones is rocked!

Jones gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Pinksy gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Jones is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
