The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rekdal rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Romanov moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Romanov takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Rekdal staying out of range there.
Rekdal throws a nice looking combination but Romanov bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Nice body punch from Rekdal.
Thorbjorn Rekdal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Romanov swings away with a body shot that misses
and Rekdal counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Romanov is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rekdal drops Romanov with a beautiful combination! Romanov stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Rekdal is looking for the KO!

Rekdal throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
The fighters circle momentarily. Rekdal darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Rekdal is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Romanov flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Romanov is out cold! Rekdal holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
