Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lee Kazama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoh Asakura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lee Kazama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoh Asakura!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kazama has Asakura up against the cage in a clinch.

Kazama drags the fight down to the ground.
Kazama is looking to stand up but Asakura isn't so interested in that idea.
Kazama trying to keep a closed guard but Asakura is proving a slippery customer.
Kazama looking to hit a scissor sweep but Asakura is one step ahead there.
Kazama keeping moving, preventing Asakura from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Asakura avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Asakura wants to stand but Kazama has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Kazama is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Lee Kazama just wasn't active enough.
Kazama shoots in for a takedown but Asakura shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kazama throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kazama throws a series of punches but Asakura avoids them all with ease.

Asakura throws a head kick but Kazama moves out of range.
Asakura tries to bum rush Kazama with a series of wild strikes but Kazama uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Asakura lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Yoh Asakura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kazama scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Asakura throws a right and a left that both miss.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Kazama shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Asakura works his way to full guard. Good work.
Kazama is breathing heavily.

Asakura is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kazama defends well.
Kazama knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Asakura on the ground.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Kazama looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Asakura is fending him off so far but Kazama persists. Nope, Asakura circles away and we're back to standing.
Asakura rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kazama moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kazama will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lee Kazama will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Asakura lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Asakura moves out of range of the body kick from Kazama.
Kazama tries to score a power double leg takedown but Asakura sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kazama somewhat.
Asakura connects with a high kick.
Kazama blocks a head kick by Asakura.
Kazama shoots for a double leg takedown but Asakura sprawls well. He's pushed Kazama's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Asakura lands with a thumping leg kick.
Asakura misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lee Kazama is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Asakura tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kazama shoots for a takedown but Asakura saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Asakura is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kazama pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Asakura jumps guard and drags Kazama to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kazama gets to his feet. Asakura looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Asakura closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Asakura misses the jab.
Asakura tries a head kick but it misses.

Kazama shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Asakura's guard.

Kazama wants to pass the guard but Asakura is keeping the position.

Asakura is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kazama wants to work for an arm triangle but Asakura is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kazama decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Kazama takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Asakura keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Asakura is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kazama shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kazama showed some decent athleticism there.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Asakura stands and steps away. Kazama gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Kazama wants to control for a moment but Asakura uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Yoh Asakura has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lee Kazama is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kazama takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Lee Kazama showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kazama, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
