PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Dux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Earls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dux kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Indestructible. Earls has chosen Tommy Gun as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Dux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Earls moves into the clinch successfully.
Earls's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Dux is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Earls avoiding damage.
Dux wants to break free but Earls has control.
Dux creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Earls tries to pull guard but Dux holds him up against the cage and eventually Earls drops back down to his feet.
Dux wants to break the clinch but can't.
Earls letting Dux take a breather here.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dux throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Nick Earls has been cut.

Earls clinches up with Dux and pushes him back against the cage.

Dux scores with a one two! Earls had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Dux clobbers Earls with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Dux uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Dux tries to bum rush Earls with a series of wild strikes but Earls uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Frank Dux seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dux looks to land a combination. Earls sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Earls feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Earls sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dux's guard.

Dux is staying active underneath Earls, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Earls wants to free his trapped foot but Dux is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dux lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Dux.

Earls should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Earls takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Earls on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Earls dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Dux. That did some damage!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Good leg kick by Dux there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dux knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Earls on the ground.

Earls is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Earls manages to get back to half guard.

Earls lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Dux!

Earls is working for a guillotine from mount but Dux frees his head quite easily.

That was a close second round but I would say that Frank Dux will probably get the nod.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dux, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
