Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Cecil Salace!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Salace shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Turnbuckle's guard.

Turnbuckle working for a triangle but Salace defends it easily.
Salace won't allow Turnbuckle to sweep him here.

Salace trying to control the position from guard on top but Turnbuckle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cecil Salace has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

and Salace counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Salace.

Salace must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Salace slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Turnbuckle is looking for a triangle but Salace pushes his legs off easily.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Cecil Salace hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Turnbuckle doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Salace counters with a single leg into guard. Turnbuckle didn't expect that.
Turnbuckle is breathing heavily.
Salace wants to control from the top but Turnbuckle keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Turnbuckle is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Salace is looking for a sweep. Turnbuckle is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Salace is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Turnbuckle's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Turnbuckle's back!

This has been an exciting period of action!

Salace is trying to stick to Turnbuckle's back but Turnbuckle is turning into Salace. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Salace's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Turnbuckle.

Salace had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Turnbuckle defends it easily.

Turnbuckle thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Salace can do anything to dispel that myth.

Turnbuckle drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Turnbuckle jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Salace seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Salace is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Turnbuckle is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Salace is looking to sinch up a triangle. Turnbuckle throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Salace's body to avoid the submission. Salace has instead reached around Turnbuckle's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Salace arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Cecil Salace!
