Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gavin McIlroy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Peks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Peks shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
McIlroy tries to hold on but Peks pushes him away.
Peks throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
McIlroy is bucking up trying to escape but Peks cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Peks looking to ground and pound but McIlroy is blocking nicely.

Peks really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McIlroy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McIlroy lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Peks!
McIlroy throws a strike there. Peks manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.

McIlroy is just content to waste time from the top position. Peks takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
McIlroy prevents Peks from getting back to his feet.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McIlroy throws and elbow that misses. Peks uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in McIlroy's guard. Nice move by Peks!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Peks can do anything to dispel that myth.
