The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez swings for the body but Ellagrande moves out of range.
Mendez lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

It looks like Brandon Ellagrande has been cut.
Ellagrande misses with a combination

and Mendez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ellagrande's guard now.

Mendez decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Tiago Mendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mendez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mendez cracks Ellagrande with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Mendez immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Ellagrande is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Mendez!
