PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Phil Harmonic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hitter Dee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dee is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Elephant Man - Haters (feat Hunt & Jim Jones) . The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Phil Harmonic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hitter Dee!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Bruno Hogan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dee tries to bum rush Harmonic with a series of wild strikes but Harmonic uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Dee avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dee misses with a jab, cross combination.
Harmonic throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dee's waist but Dee gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Harmonic off to one side.
A punch combination from Dee misses.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Dee's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Harmonic tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Harmonic gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Dee counters with a crisp one two that drops Harmonic! Dee thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Harmonic to his feet! Harmonic is in big trouble!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Harmonic fails with the takedown

and Dee counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Dee.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phil Harmonic. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dee manages to pull guard.
Harmonic keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Dee's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harmonic stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dee swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Harmonic lands a couple of elbows.
Harmonic tries to free his leg and advance position but Dee is retaining full guard.
Dee working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Harmonic.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Harmonic accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Dee is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Harmonic defends well.
Dee is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Harmonic is controlling him.
Harmonic throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Harmonic is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Dee had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Harmonic defends it easily.
Dee avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Harmonic thows a big elbow that misses.

Dee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Harmonic doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Harmonic manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Harmonic with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Harmonic thows a big elbow that misses.
Harmonic postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Harmonic makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dee is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Harmonic tries to free his leg and advance position but Dee is retaining full guard.
Harmonic postures up and lands a big shot to Dee's brow.
Harmonic trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Harmonic has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Harmonic's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Dee looking for a guillotine here but Harmonic defends easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dee is looking for a triangle but Harmonic pushes his legs off easily.
Dee looks gassed!
Harmonic with a nice head shot there.
Harmonic is in close to Dee's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Harmonic working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Harmonic drops back looking for a leg! Dee is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dee manages to kick Harmonic off! Harmonic jumps back into Dee's guard.
Harmonic slips nicely into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Harmonic lands a nice short elbow.
Dee on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Harmonic tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dee knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Dee landing strikes from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dee lands a couple of sideways elbows.
Dee is looking for a sweep. Harmonic is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Harmonic is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dee kicks Harmonic off and gets back to his feet.
Harmonic tries for a takedown but Dee sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Harmonic with a poor takedown
and Dee counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Dee stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dee wants it to stay on the feet.
Harmonic closes the distance but Dee moves to the side

and Dee counters with a head kick that drops Harmonic to the mat! Harmonic scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Harmonic is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Harmonic doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Dee counters with a big right hand! Oh Harmonic is in trouble here! Dee follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
