PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jim Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Genzo Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Genzo Smith was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Storm!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Genzo Smith!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a takedown
enabling Storm to counter with a crisp jab.

enabling Storm to counter with a crisp jab.

Smith gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Storm to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Smith trying to keep a closed guard but Storm is proving a slippery customer.
Storm stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Smith working a defensive guard but Storm manages to pass into side control anyway.

Storm thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Smith tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Storm easily slips into full mount!
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Storm. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Storm working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith wants to hold on but Storm pushes him away.
Storm takes Smith's back, avoiding a couple of desperation strikes from the bottom.

Storm is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Smith defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Smith is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Storm gets his way!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Storm is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Smith won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Storm off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jim Storm!
