The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hightower shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has The Animal pinned against the cage. The Animal gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hightower tries to score a power double leg takedown but The Animal sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hightower somewhat.
Hightower shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts The Animal as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leonard Hightower. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The Animal lands a jab.

It looks like Leonard Hightower has been cut.
Carlos The Animal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The Animal steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Hightower is out on his feet! The Animal sets himself and nearly takes Hightower's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
