Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Stein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stein comes into the arena with Rolling Stones - Paint it Black blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Stein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fedor Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stein throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Emelianenko was covering up waiting for the punch and Stein finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Stein is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Emelianenko looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Emelianenko wants to sweep but no luck.
Emelianenko manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stein manages to get himself to full guard.
Stein wants to sweep but no luck.

Stein working for a triangle but Emelianenko defends it easily.
Emelianenko wants to control from the top but Stein keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Stein has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Emelianenko can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Stein looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Emelianenko puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Emelianenko thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Stein's head.
Stein is pressing down on Emelianenko's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Emelianenko is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Stein throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Stein had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Emelianenko defends it easily.
Emelianenko wants to control from the top but Stein keeps moving.

Emelianenko got a little sloppy there for a moment and Stein has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Emelianenko has managed to get both his arms back between Stein's legs - danger averted.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stein looking to hit a scissor sweep but Emelianenko is one step ahead there.

Stein has his foot on Emelianenko's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Emelianenko works his way back into a safe position though.

Stein lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Emelianenko!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stein throwing strikes here but Emelianenko is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Stein wants to control the pace but Emelianenko is squirming around nicely.
Emelianenko can't escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Emelianenko is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Emelianenko sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Ground and pound from Stein.

Stein wants to work for an arm triangle but Emelianenko is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Stein thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Emelianenko to regain full guard.
Emelianenko lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Stein!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stein tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stein tries to hold on but Emelianenko pushes him away.
Emelianenko lands a big shot there that rocks Stein but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Emelianenko landing punches.
Emelianenko can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Stein is looking to escape.
Emelianenko looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Stein is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Stein is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Emelianenko lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Emelianenko scoring with strikes but Stein is staying in there.
Emelianenko takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Emelianenko lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fedor Emelianenko dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Emelianenko steps in with a hook that catches Stein right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Emelianenko follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Stein looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fedor Emelianenko!
