The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ovareem misses with an uppercut
and De Sousa connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
De Sousa uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ovareem.
Ovareem swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ovareem swings widly with a right hand
and De Sousa counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Ovareem misses with an uppercut
and De Sousa counters with a stiff right hand.
Ovareem thows a left - swing and a miss!

Ovareem rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Ovareem takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Ovareem really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ovareem uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before De Sousa has time to react.

The fighters circling - Ovareem throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Ovareem looks to land a left hand but De Sousa moved out of range nicely.

De Sousa shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ovareem's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
De Sousa sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ovareem's guard.

Ovareem wants to improve his position but De Sousa is controlling well.

De Sousa wants to free his trapped foot but Ovareem is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Ovareem has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. De Sousa is working away from the top position though.

De Sousa on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
De Sousa dodges the punch combination from Ovareem.
Ovareem displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as De Sousa throws out the jab.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ovareem wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by De Sousa.
Ovareem on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ovareem tries to get out of the position.

De Sousa quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for De Sousa but it's paid off an Ovareem is forced to tap! Nice work by De Sousa.
