PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Boon Baboon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Landry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Landry has chosen Friday as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Boon Baboon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ian Landry!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Landry.
Landry with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Baboon throws a poor cross that misses
and Landry counters with a leg kick.
Landry lands a high kick!
Landry scores with a head kick. Baboon tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.


Baboon is rocked!
Landry throws a head kick that misses.

Landry gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Baboon to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Baboon wants to pass the guard but Landry is keeping the position.
Baboonis looking to pass into half guard but Landry pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Landry is in guard.
Landry is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Baboon is looking for a triangle but Landry pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Landry controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Baboon is staying active underneath Landry, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Still in half guard, Landry seems content to control.
Landry trying to control from half guard but Baboon is working away.

Landry is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Baboon tries to get to full guard but Landry has control of the leg.

Landry is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Baboon doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Landry.
Baboon is looking for a sweep. Landry is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Landry lands a nice short elbow.

Baboon tries to roll over but Landry keeps him under control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Landry drops an elbow to the side of Baboon's head.
Landry controlling the action here.
Landry works his way into full mount!
Landry fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Landry looking to finish Baboon with some ground and pound. This is bad for Baboon!

Landry moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Baboon has worked his arm free - good work by Baboon!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Baboon is trying to escape the position but Landry is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ian Landry dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Baboon throws a head kick that misses
and Landry counters with a good low kick that Baboon was not able to check.

and Landry counters by clinching up.
Landry prevents a body shot from Baboon.
Baboon is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Landry gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Landry lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Landry creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Baboon's defenses.
Baboon tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Landry takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Baboon is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Stalling in the clinch from Landry.
Landry lands with a left to the head.
Baboon drops down looking for an ankle pick but Landry pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Boon Baboon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice body kick from Landry.
Baboon misses with a hook to the body
and Landry counters with a nice low kick that buckles Baboon's knee momentarily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A head kick from Landry lands but Baboon takes it in his stride.
Oh Baboon is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Landry lands a nice leg kick that just misses Baboon's sensitive parts.
Baboon seems to have got his legs back now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Landry lands a leg kick that knocks Baboon off balance momentarily.
Baboon on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Landry. Landry obviously looking to wear him down.
Landry lands a jab to Baboon's midsection.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Landry lands with a slapping head kick.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Landry! Baboon is out on his feet! Landry rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Baboon is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Baboon is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ian Landry!
