And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nat Star!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kimono has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Star.
Star slips a jab and a cross from Kimono.
Kimono has his takedown stuffed
and Star counters with a body kick that stops Kimono in his tracks momentarily.
Star throws a nice head kick!
Kimono gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Star counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

and Star counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Star fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kimono, pushing him back against the cage.

Star breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Star throws a hook but Kimono avoids it easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kimono enables Star to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kimono manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Star is looking to stand up but Kimono won't let him.

Star closes the distance and clinches.

Star escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Star has Kimono up against the cage in a clinch.

Star turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Star manages to end up in side control.

Star tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Star is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Star lands a decent elbow from side control.

Star throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Star happy to just control the position for now.

Star stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Star plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Star gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Star manages to break the clinch.
Star throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Kimono.
Star fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kimono.

Star fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kimono, pushing him back against the cage.

Star breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Star lands a high kick!

Star drives through and clinches with Kimono against the cage.

Star's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Star closes the distance and pushes Kimono back into the cage.

Star breaks from the clinch.
Kimono takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nat Star dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nat Star seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kimono shoots and misses
and Star counters with a solid body kick.
Kimono shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Star counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Kimono gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Star would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Star decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Star throws a nice inside leg kick.
Star connects with an inside leg kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kimono on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Star. Star obviously looking to wear him down.
Frank Kimono is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kimono has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Star.

Star fakes the leg kick and cracks Kimono in the body.
Star thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kimono if he has to take too many more of those.

Kimono gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Star to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Star must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Star has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Kimono crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Star - the referee stops the clock and Kimono gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Star. Kimono manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Star feints and as Kimono raises his hands in defense, Star changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Star in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Star stands and steps away. Kimono gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Star thuds his shin into the meat of Kimono's side.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Star. Kimono shrugs it off though.
Star plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Kimono tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
That kick from Star tenderised Kimono's leg. Kimono is trying to keep his angry face on.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Kimono. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Star fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Star clinches up with Kimono and pushes him back against the cage.

Star pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Star throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Kimono crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Star - the referee stops the clock and Kimono gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Star. Kimono manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Star shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kimono's guard.
Nat Star has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kimono has a closed guard, preventing Star from standing up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Star takes the fight into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nat Star showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Star decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Star has Kimono pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Star pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kimono tumbling to the mat - Star dives into Kimono's guard.

Kimono is trying to keep Star in close.

Star gets to his feet. Kimono looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Star bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kimono's head backwards.

Kimono walks forward, straight into a front kick from Star.
Star looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Star throws a front kick that sends Kimono stumbling back into the cage.
Kimono takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Star breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Star connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Kimono is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Star throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Kimono gets tackled into the cage by Star. Star maintains the clinch.

Star's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Kimono will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
Star thows a body shot but no joy.
Frank Kimono has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Kimono walks forward, straight into a front kick from Star.

Star lands a head kick. Kimono smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Kimono takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

And that's the end of the fight!
Nat Star comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Star has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
