Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Sliva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Rogerio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Antonio Rogerio has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Sliva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Rogerio!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sliva lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Rogerio tries for a takedown but Sliva circles away easily

and Sliva counters with a single leg into guard. Rogerio didn't expect that.

Sliva would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rogerio holds on and takes a little breather.

Sliva decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Rogerio fails with the takedown

and Sliva counters by moving into the clinch.
Rogerio looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Sliva scores with a nice hook to the head.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Sliva connects with a nasty looking knee right to Rogerio's face.

Sliva drags the fight down to the ground.
Rogerio wants to control from the top but Sliva keeps moving.
Sliva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rogerio is one step ahead there.

Sliva has his foot on Rogerio's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rogerio works his way back into a safe position though.
Rogerio tries to stand but Sliva is controlling from the bottom.
Rogerio looks gassed!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rogerio wanted to stand there but Sliva had control of the position.
Rogerio is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Sliva lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rogerio!

Rogerio is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Sliva is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Rogerio can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Sliva controlling the pace for now.

Sliva stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Sliva shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rogerio manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Sliva is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Sliva would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Rogerio wants to sweep here but Sliva controlling him for the moment.
Rogerio utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anderson Sliva dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Sliva fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rogerio sprawls well initially but Sliva persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Rogerio makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rogerio.
Sliva not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Rogerio tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Sliva stands and steps away. Rogerio gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Rogerio closes the distance but Sliva moves to the side
and Sliva counters with a head kick. That will keep Rogerio thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sliva gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Sliva jumps guard.

Sliva looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Rogerio trying to control the position from guard on top but Sliva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sliva wants to get back to his feet but Rogerio is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Rogerio not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Sliva pushes Rogerio off and scrambles back to his feet.
Rogerio looks to throw a body kick

and Sliva counters with a shoot takedown. Rogerio fights it but they end up in guard.
Sliva trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rogerio wants to sweep here but Sliva controlling him for the moment.
Sliva wants to stand but Rogerio has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Sliva missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Sliva stays in close to Rogerio's body and controls the position.
Rogerio keeping moving, preventing Sliva from controlling successfully.

Anderson Sliva has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

and Sliva holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Rogerio wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Sliva decides to pull guard.

Sliva kicks Rogerio off and gets to his feet.

Rogerio shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Sliva counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Sliva pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rogerio is keeping the position for now.

Sliva decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rogerio, up you get!

and Sliva moves into the clinch.

Sliva pulls guard effortlessly.
Sliva is looking to stand up but Rogerio isn't so interested in that idea.
Rogerio looking to sit in guard and control but Sliva gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anderson Sliva dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

and Sliva counters with a single leg into guard. Rogerio didn't expect that.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Sliva stands up from Rogerio's guard - Sliva perhaps looking for a knockout.

Sliva clinches with his opponent.

and Sliva decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rogerio's guard.
Anderson Sliva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Rogerio.
Sliva slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Sliva is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rogerio can do to turn this around?

Sliva stands up and waves to Rogerio to follow him.

Sliva throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rogerio was covering up waiting for the punch and Sliva finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rogerio misses with a takedown attempt

and Sliva counters by moving into the clinch.

Sliva gets control of Rogerio's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sliva will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Sliva looking for a guillotine here but Rogerio defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rogerio stands up from guard. Let's bang!

And that's the end of the fight!
Anderson Sliva showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Sliva has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
