The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
kawozinazaki shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. kawozinazaki showed some decent athleticism there.
Vandamme actively working from the bottom here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vandamme escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. kawozinazaki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
kawozinazaki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

kawozinazaki wants to control from the top but Vandamme keeps moving.

Vandamme might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control kawozinazaki kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Vandamme bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Vandamme gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. kawozinazaki is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Vandamme lets go of the hold and kawozinazaki can pop his arm back in it's socket.
