The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lloyd connects with an inside leg kick.
Lloyd buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Lloyd throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gomes looks to score with a jab to the body but Lloyd is just out of range.
Gomes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lloyd moves away.
Gomes lands a jab to the head.
Gomes throws a sloppy body shot
and Lloyd counters with a leg kick.
Lloyd goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Gomes closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Lloyd manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Lloyd has control of Gomes's left arm, preventing Gomes from doing any damage.

Gomes is looking to work some ground and pound but Lloyd has wrist control.

Gomes is trying to work for a kimura but Lloyd is defending well.
Lloyd tries to kick Gomes off but Gomes keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Gomes wants to take a breather but Lloyd is having none of it.
Gomes takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gomes drops an elbow to the side of Lloyd's head.
Gomes is trying to control the action in half guard but Lloyd is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Gomes slips a nice elbow through Lloyd's hands, connecting with Lloyd's forehead.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gomes connects with a nice short shot to Lloyd's temple.
