Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ground Pounder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and the natural Couture (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pounder gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Couture connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Couture moves in looking to clinch but Pounder pushes him off.

Couture shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pounder napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Pounder is trying to control Couture's posture but Couture avoids it.

Pounder is squirming around, avoiding Couture's attempts to control the action.

Pounder is desperately trying to improve his position but Couture has a good base and remains in mount.
Pounder wants to hold on but Couture pushes him away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Couture tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Pounder manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Pounder throws the kick towards the body but Couture avoids it.
Pounder shoots in for a double leg but Couture sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Nice uppercut lands for Couture. That snapped Pounder's head back.

and Couture counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pounder won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
