Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rian Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Webster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Webster has chosen Run to the Hills by Iron Madien as his entrance music. Ben Webster has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rian Cox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Webster!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Webster enables Cox to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Webster manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Webster looking for a sweep. Not yet Webster, not yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cox is looking to stand up but Webster won't let him.
Cox wants to control from the top but Webster keeps moving.
Webster working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cox.
Cox being controlled here momentarily.
Webster keeping full guard, as Cox tries to pass.
Cox won't allow Webster to get back to his feet.

Webster uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Ben Webster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cox gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Cox looking to control.

Cox looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Webster gets to his feet - Cox follows without any prompting.
A nice combination there by Webster.
Cox throws a head kick that misses.
Cox misses with an attempted mid kick.

Webster drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Webster trying to control but Cox is working from the bottom.

Webster looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Cox is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Webster is working Cox over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Webster lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Webster throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cox works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Webster forces his way into half guard.
Webster thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cox's head.
Webster lands with a punch from half guard.
Webster is thwarting Cox's attempts to control the position.
Webster should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Cox is trying to stand.
Cox is breathing heavily.
Cox keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Cox looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Webster perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Webster slips a nice elbow through Cox's hands, connecting with Cox's forehead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Webster landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Cox has hold of Webster's hands but Webster slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Cox is trying to control but can't.
Webster seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Webster lands a nice short elbow.
Cox is refusing to be controlled, as Webster sits in half guard.
Webster stalling.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Cox has one foot on Webster's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ben Webster dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Webster lands with an overhand left.

Webster has closed the distance and engaged Cox in a clinch.
A short body shot lands from Webster as the two fighters clinch.

Cox wants the takedown. Webster is fighting it off but Cox persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Webster's guard against the cage.
Webster is controlling Cox's posture.
Cox trying to control the position from guard on top but Webster is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Webster is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cox has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Webster is working away from the top position though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Webster moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Cox.
Webster scores with punches from side control.
Webster has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Cox!
Webster fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Webster sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Webster putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
A nice elbow there by Webster.
Webster landing strikes, looking to finish!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Webster working Cox over with strikes here.
Cox tries to lock up and control but Webster gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Webster in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Webster cracks Cox with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Webster working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Cox looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Webster! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Ben Webster!
