PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Zen Fury (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rich Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Zen Fury has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Zen Fury seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fury throws a leg kick

Fury misses with a takedown attempt
and Brown counters with a nice uppercut.
Brown is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Fury misses with a body shot.
Fury fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Brown manages to avoid it.

Brown shoots in and gets a takedown into Fury's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Fury is looking for a triangle but Brown pushes his legs off easily.
Brown connects with a couple of short punches.

Fury working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brown doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brown manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fury controls Brown momentarily but Brown frees himself.

Brown got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fury has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Brown has managed to get both his arms back between Fury's legs - danger averted.

Brown is looking to work some ground and pound but Fury has wrist control.

Fury had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Brown defends it easily.
Brown wants to pass the guard but Fury is keeping the position.

Brown drops back looking for a leg! Fury is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fury manages to kick Brown off! Brown jumps back into Fury's guard.
Fury is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Fury is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Brown is in close to Fury's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Brown drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Brown jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Brown wants to pass the guard but Fury is keeping the position.

Fury bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brown's guard.

Brown is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fury defends well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brown manages to get to full guard.
Brown wants to sweep but no luck.

Fury drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fury jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fury might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fury drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Fury seems to have locked his on tight now - Brown screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Fury, as he picks up the win!
