PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Popoy Bato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Popoy Bato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Billy Bob!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Richard Clark and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bob fails with an attempt to clinch.

Bob feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bato keeping moving, preventing Bob from controlling successfully.
Bato utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Bato is working an open guard so Bob takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bob looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Bob moves into the clinch.
Bato is working for takedown but Bob is calmly controlling the position for now.

Bato manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Bob thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Bob stands up from Bato's guard - Bob perhaps looking for a knockout.

Bato forces Bob back against the cage and clinches.
A nice right hand lands inside from Bato.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Bob breaks from the clinch.
Bato shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bob pinned against the cage. Bob gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Popoy Bato. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Billy Bob seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bob lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Bato uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bob.
Bob shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bato as he avoids it easily.
Bob looks gassed!

Bob gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bato stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bob swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bob wants to stand but Bato is controlling the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bato sitting in guard here, content to control.
Bob is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bato takes the fight into the clinch.
Bato could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Bob wants to break the clinch but can't.
Bato wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Bato tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Bato is working for takedown but Bob is calmly controlling the position for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bob's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Bob.

Bob decides to stand up, so the ref orders Bato to his feet.

Bato gets tackled into the cage by Bob. Bob maintains the clinch.

Bob breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Bob moves into range and clinches up with Bato.
Bato tries to pull guard but Bob holds him up against the cage and eventually Bato drops back down to his feet.
Bob is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bato displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bob throws out the jab.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bob.
Bob throws out a loose jab but Bato uses good head movement to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Billy Bob dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Bato is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bob sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Bob scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bato doesn't seem bothered though.
Bob throws a head kick but Bato moves out of range.
Bob wants to clinch up but Bato keeps it at a distance.
Bob shoots in looking for a takedown but Bato manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bob's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Bato takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Bob fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bato tries a head kick but it misses.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bob stands up and beckons Bato to join him on the feet.
Bob throws a head kick that Bato semi-blocks.
Bato takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Bato drops his hands momentarily and Bob takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Bob misses the shot to the body.
A head kick misses from Bato.
Bob tries to clinch there but Bato circles away.
Bato defending well as Bob loads up on a big left hand.
Bato keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bob throws a predictable looking body shot

so Bato counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Bato wants to control from the top but Bob keeps moving.
Bato looking to sit in guard and control but Bob gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Bato wants to sweep here but Bob controlling him for the moment.

Bob decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Bob throws a looping overhand right but Bato ducks down to avoid it.
Nice takedown defense from Bob. No joy for Bato on that attempt.
Bato on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

and Bato counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bob won't be happy with that.

Bob is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Bato's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bato in particular looking to stall.

Bob has one foot on Bato's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Bob tries to clinch up but Bato circles away and keeps his distance.

Popoy Bato has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Billy Bob.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close second round but Billy Bob will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Bob throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Bato's head.
Bato tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Bob manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Bob kicks Bato off and gets to his feet.

Bato shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bob pinned against the cage. Bob gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Bob counters with a three punch combo that has Bato backing up. Bato nods at Bob to acknowledge the strikes.

Bato leaves Bob with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bob connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Bob tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bato swivels and escapes.
Bob looks to score with a jab to the body but Bato is just out of range.
Bato throws a series of punches but Bob moves out of range.
Bato blocks a head kick by Bob.
Bato shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bob but Bob pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Bob throws a half hearted mid kick.
Nice sprawl there from Bato as Bob shoots in.
Bato avoids the head kick by Bob.
Bob throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Bob throws a hook but Bato avoids it easily.
Popoy Bato has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Billy Bob is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Bato fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Bob checks it well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Popoy Bato showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Bob has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
