Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Orton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Hawkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Randy Orton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Hawkey!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Glass and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orton tries for a takedown but Hawkey circles away easily
and Orton takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


It looks like Randy Orton has been cut.

and Hawkey lands a stunning uppercut that sends Orton to the mat!


Orton is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hawkey in particular looking to stall.
Hawkey wants to advance to full mount but Orton doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Hawkey is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Steve Hawkey wasn't active enough on the ground.

Hawkey throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Orton was covering up waiting for the punch and Hawkey finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hawkey's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Let's hope that Hawkey has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

and Hawkey counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Orton!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Steve Hawkey was stalling too much, according to the referee.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Hawkey fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Orton, pushing him back against the cage.

Hawkey has clasped his hands together around Orton's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Steve Hawkey hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Orton doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Hawkey counters with a nice double leg into side control. Orton won't be happy with that.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Steve Hawkey has got the better of the ground game so far.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hawkey's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Steve Hawkey.

Hawkey shoots in and gets a takedown into Orton's guard.

Hawkey stays in close to Orton's body and controls the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Steve Hawkey hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hawkey.
Hawkey misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Hawkey is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Orton will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Hawkey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Hawkey closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Hawkey moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Orton pushes Hawkey away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hawkey gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Hawkey stands up and waves to Orton to follow him.

Well Hawkey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
