Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Long (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Sheznik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thomas Long!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Sheznik!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Long is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sheznik.
Sheznik uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Long.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Sheznik ducks under a wild hook from Long.
Sheznik dives in and grabs Long's left leg, looking for a takedown. Long pushes down on Sheznik's head and hops out.
Long works over Sheznik's head and body with a nice combination.

Long lands with a nice combination. Sheznik backs away looking to recover.
Long throws a looping overhand right but Sheznik ducks down to avoid it.
Long fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

and Sheznik counters with a shoot takedown. Long fights it but they end up in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Long is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sheznik is controlling him.

Sheznik is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Sheznik working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sheznik prevents Long from getting back to his feet.
Sheznik loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Sheznik has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Sheznik is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Long wants to stand and escape but Sheznik is having none of it.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Nick Sheznik wasn't active enough on the ground.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sheznik looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Long gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sheznik to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Long on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Long tries to get out of the position.
Long is looking to stand up but Sheznik isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Long is looking to stand up but Sheznik isn't so interested in that idea.

Sheznik shoots in for a takedown but Long shows good takedown defense.
Sheznik walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Long leaves Sheznik with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Thomas Long has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Sheznik.
Long lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Sheznik moves in looking to clinch but Long pushes him off.
Long is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Sheznik with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Long to score with a decent uppercut.

Long throws a hook to the side of Sheznik's head but Sheznik sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Sheznik shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Long sprawls well. Long wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sheznik gets slowly back to his feet.
Sheznik blocks a jab.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sheznik.
Sheznik tries to clinch there but Long circles away.
Sheznik walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Long lands the left hand.
Sheznik displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Long throws out the jab.

Long misses with a looping left.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sheznik takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Sheznik doesn't manage to clinch there - Long circles away.
Thomas Long seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sloppy strikes from Long. Those never looked like landing.
Long throws out a loose jab but Sheznik uses good head movement to avoid it.

Sheznik shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Sheznik dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Long bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Sheznik's head.
Decent striking displayed by Long there.
Sheznik fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Sheznik tries to clinch there but Long circles away.
Long moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Long tries to work over Sheznik's front leg with a kick but Sheznik checks it.
Long swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Sheznik takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Long lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Long is trying to push Sheznik away but Sheznik has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Long wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sheznik has him pressed against the cage.
Sheznik jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Long walks away with a smile on his face. Sheznik gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Sheznik changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Long tries to avoid it but Sheznik manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Long to the ground. Long escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Thomas Long has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Sheznik.

Long pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Sheznik counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Long!
Long is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Sheznik is breathing heavily.

Sheznik wants to control the pace but Long is squirming around nicely.

Sheznik is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Long can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Sheznik throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Long has his hands clasped together but Sheznik breaks the hold and Long is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Sheznik!
