Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ezio De Vinci (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Verd Hyden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ezio De Vinci!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Verd Hyden!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hyden moves to clinch but De Vinci breaks away

and De Vinci counters with a shoot takedown. Hyden fights it but they end up in guard.
Hyden is looking to stand up but De Vinci isn't so interested in that idea.
Hyden keeping full guard, as De Vinci tries to pass.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
De Vinci connects with a couple of short punches.
Hyden wants to get back to his feet but De Vinci is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
De Vinci sitting in guard, not really doing much.
De Vinci has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Hyden really doesn't want to stay on the ground with De Vinci. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ezio De Vinci wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Hyden closes the distance looking to clinch

and De Vinci counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
De Vinci seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. De Vinci lands a nice short elbow.

De Vinci decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

De Vinci closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - De Vinci lands in his opponent's guard.
De Vinci has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

De Vinci is in close to Hyden's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hyden is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
De Vinci lands a couple of elbows.
De Vinci stops Hyden from standing up.
De Vinci sitting in guard, not really doing much.
De Vinci working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
De Vinci passes Hyden's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
De Vinci performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Hyden is looking to get back to is feet but De Vinci passes into side control.

Hyden is looking to work his way out of this bad position but De Vinci is controlling him well.
Hyden looks gassed!

De Vinci decides to stand back up. De Vinci steps back and let's Hyden get back to his feet.
Hyden moves to clinch but De Vinci breaks away

and De Vinci counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Hyden is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and De Vinci dives into side control.
Hyden seems a little lost for a moment, as De Vinci dominates the positioning.
De Vinci cracks Hyden with an elbow. That is naaassty.

De Vinci has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
De Vinci shoots in but Hyden avoids the takedown attempt easily.
De Vinci fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

De Vinci scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hyden tries to escape but De Vinci is in control.

De Vinci decides to take the fight back to the feet.

De Vinci shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. De Vinci showed some decent athleticism there.
De Vinci passes to full mount!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hyden wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ezio De Vinci dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


De Vinci tries to clinch up.

De Vinci changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hyden looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Hyden bucks up and tries to throw De Vinci off but instead De Vinci has got his back!
De Vinci connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Hyden to escape the position.
Hyden has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Hyden is taking damage to the body and head.
De Vinci is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. De Vinci gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. De Vinci gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. De Vinci apologises and we restart here on the feet.
De Vinci avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hyden is breathing heavily.

De Vinci feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
De Vinci is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

De Vinci forces his way into half guard.
Hyden on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
De Vinci is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hyden can do to turn this around?

De Vinci is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
De Vinci lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Hyden wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
De Vinci stalling.

De Vinci stands up out of the half guard.
De Vinci wants to clinch.
De Vinci tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Hyden manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hyden wants to clinch but De Vinci slips to the side

and De Vinci counters by clinching up.
De Vinci tries to pull guard but Hyden holds him up against the cage and eventually De Vinci drops back down to his feet.
Hyden blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Hyden scores with a knee to the head.
Hyden has had enough of the clinch but De Vinci keeps him there for the moment.
De Vinci takes an elbow to the temple.
Hyden throws an elbow but it's blocked.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
De Vinci trying to stall but Hyden improves his position.

Hyden breaks the clinch.
De Vinci takes a kick to the side of the head.

De Vinci decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
De Vinci takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ezio De Vinci overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
De Vinci is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

De Vinci has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hyden's face.
Hyden in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
De Vinci takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hyden is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!



De Vinci fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hyden, pushing him back against the cage.
Hyden has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
De Vinci lands a shot to the body.
De Vinci is trying to drag Hyden to the mat but Hyden just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Hyden throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but De Vinci blocks it with crossed arms.
A knee to the head by Hyden.
De Vinci keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Hyden's efforts to push away.
De Vinci tries to pull guard but Hyden won't allow it.
Hyden lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

De Vinci pulls guard effortlessly.

De Vinci scrambles and gets back to his feet.

De Vinci stands up and waves to Hyden to follow him.
De Vinci misses with a series of wild punches.
Hyden throws a head kick that misses
and De Vinci counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Hyden closes the distance looking to clinch

Hyden is trying to stand back up but De Vinci is controlling him

That's two minutes gone in the round.

De Vinci gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Hyden gets caught flat footed, as De Vinci shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
De Vinci sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hyden's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

De Vinci is looking for a kimura here.
Hyden pushes De Vinci off looking to stand but De Vinci dives back in and keeps control.
De Vinci controlling the action here.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. De Vinci lands a nice short elbow.

De Vinci moves nicely into side control.
De Vinci controls the position.

De Vinci thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
De Vinci tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Hyden trying to remain calm as De Vinci controls from the top position.
Hyden tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Hyden has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
De Vinci has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Hyden's body.
Can Hyden hold on?! De Vinci is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ezio De Vinci showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for De Vinci, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
