PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Earl Bertane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boxing Dummy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bertane might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Dark Tranquillity - Her Silent Language. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dummy gets caught flat footed, as Bertane shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Bertane working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Bertane controls from within his opponent's guard.
Bertane stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dummy swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dummy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Bertane postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Bertane loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Bertane lands a couple of digs.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dummy preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Bertane might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Dummy is looking for a sweep. Bertane is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bertane has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Dummy drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Dummy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Dummy lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Bertane throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dummy was covering up waiting for the punch and Bertane finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Bertane wants to pass the guard but Dummy is keeping the position.
Dummy looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bertane is fighting to break Dummy's control of his arms but Dummy is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Bertane controls from within his opponent's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Dummy lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Nice defenses there by Dummy.
Bertane fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Dummy looks to score with a jab to the body but Bertane is just out of range.
A swing and a miss from Bertane.
Bertane just misses with a punch to the body.
Bertane swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Dummy is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Boxing Dummy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dummy fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Nice defenses there by Bertane.
Bertane misses the jab.

and Dummy counters with a stiff right hand.

Boxing Dummy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Bertane misses with a wild body shot.
Dummy punishes Bertane's body with a nice straight punch.
Bertane looks to score with a jab to the body but Dummy is just out of range.
Dummy defending well as Bertane loads up on a big left hand.
Dummy misses with a straight right.
Bertane closes the distance and clinches up with Dummy, looking for a takedown. Bertane pushes Dummy against the cage but Dummy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dummy throws a nice looking combination but Bertane bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Dummy bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Dummy avoids the body shot from Bertane.
Bertane throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Bertane darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Bertane not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Dummy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bertane's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bertane's back!

Dummy is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Bertane defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Dummy struggling to keep hold of the position.
I really don't envy Bertane right now.
Dummy wants to control the position but Bertane frees himself and scrambles - Dummy manages to regain control in side control.
Bertane is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Dummy is controlling him well.

Bertane is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Dummy's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bertane tries to get to full guard but Dummy has control of the leg.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Dummy tries to stand and escape but Bertane is controlling the position.

Bertane makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
