Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Walter Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Deal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by lil walter. The crowd seem to be enjoying Deal's choice of entrance music: Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Al Deal!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Jones takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Walter Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Deal counters with a stiff right hand.
Jones swings for the body but Deal moves out of range.
Jones tries to clinch
and Deal counters with a stiff right hand.
Jones scores with a hook to the body. Deal takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Jones closes the distance looking to clinch
and Deal counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Deal connects with a body shot.
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Deal counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Jones looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Deal controlling the pace.
Deal wants to stand but Jones has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Deal content to control rather than advance.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Al Deal hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
A punch lands to the side of Deal 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Jones has his takedown stuffed

and Deal counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Deal.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Deal stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jones controls Deal momentarily but Deal frees himself.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Deal wants to get up but he can't break Jones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Deal counters with a two punch combo.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jones misses with a takedown

and Deal counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Deal trying to stand up but can't free himself from Jones's guard.

Deal decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jones, up you get!
Jones buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Deal scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Deal stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Deal changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Deal manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Al Deal dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Deal counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jones won't be happy with that.
Jones is looking for a sweep.
Jones holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Jones is pushing Deal's head away, looking to escape. Deal manages to hold on to the position though.

Jones is looking to get back to his feet here but Deal is keeping cool and he's managed to take Jones's back.
Deal is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Al Deal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Deal throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Deal off to one side.

so Deal counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Deal is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Deal looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Jones wants to control from the top but Deal keeps moving.

Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Deal is keeping the position for now.
Deal is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones prevents Deal from getting back to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Deal doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Deal manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Jones has control of Deal's left arm, preventing Deal from doing any damage.

Jones has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Deal is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Jones.

Deal tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Al Deal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Deal has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
