Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Austin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirk Gable (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Austin might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to shattered dreams. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Austin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dirk Gable!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gable has managed to clinch.
Gable has Austin pressed against the cage, preventing Austin from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Gable breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gable swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Austin throws a lazy head kick

and Gable counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Austin is trying to stand.
Austin wants to control the action here but instead Gable manages to pass to full mount!
Gable controlling the position easily from mount.
Austin wants to control but Gable is having none of it.
Gable tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Austin wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Gable.

Let's hope that Gable has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Gable gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Gable is looking to slow Austin down with leg kicks.

Gable gets tackled into the cage by Austin. Austin maintains the clinch.

Gable manages to pull guard.
Austin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Gable bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Austin's guard.
Gable not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Gable missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Gable thows a big elbow that misses.

Gable stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Austin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gable controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Gable passes Austin's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Austin tries to roll over but Gable keeps him under control.
Gable is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Austin pushes Gable off looking to stand but Gable dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Austin is trying to work for a sweep but Gable has mounted him!

Austin is looking to improve his position but Gable isn't that keen on the idea.
Gable tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dirk Gable was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Gable misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Austin moves into the clinch.

Gable breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gable defending well as Austin loads up on a big left hand.
Steve Austin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Gable fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Austin, pushing him back against the cage.
Austin wants to break the clinch but can't.

Austin has hold of one of Gable's legs. Gable is fighting the takedown attempt but Austin gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gable is on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dirk Gable showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Austin misses with a wild body shot.

Gable is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Austin's half guard.
Gable perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Gable has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Dirk Gable has got the better of the ground game so far.

You get the feeling that Austin really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Austin is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Gable looking to ground and pound but Austin is blocking nicely.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dirk Gable was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Austin feints and as Gable raises his hands in defense, Austin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Dirk Gable is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Gable pulls Austin in close to his closed guard and prevents Austin from doing any damage or advancing position.
Gable looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Dirk Gable comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gable has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
