Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Billington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sami Ojankaivaja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sami Ojankaivaja told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sami Ojankaivaja!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, William Gold and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Billington darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Ojankaivaja manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Billington pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ojankaivaja is keeping the position for now.
Ojankaivaja is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Billington working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ojankaivaja is on top in guard.
Ojankaivaja won't allow Billington to sweep him here.
Ojankaivaja throws a big right hand that misses.

Billington throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Ojankaivaja drops back looking for a leg! Billington is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Billington manages to kick Ojankaivaja off! Ojankaivaja jumps back into Billington's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Billington looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ojankaivaja throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Billington works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Billington misses with a few strikes there.
Ojankaivaja has a takedown stuffed.
Ojankaivaja looks gassed!
Billington stuffs the takedown attempt from Ojankaivaja. Ojankaivaja gets slowly back to his feet.

Billington closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ojankaivaja to the mat! Ojankaivaja manages to get full guard.
Billington has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Billington lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Ojankaivaja manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Billington manages to get himself to full guard.
Ojankaivaja keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Billington's head.

Ojankaivaja advances to half guard.
Ojankaivaja passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Billington!
Billington keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Billington is squirming around, avoiding Ojankaivaja's attempts to control the action.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ojankaivaja has hold of Billington's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Billington manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Ojankaivaja in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Ojankaivaja looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Billington might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Billington gets back to half guard.
Ojankaivaja is looking to advance position but Billington won't allow it.

Ojankaivaja passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Billington!
Billington on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Billington tries to get out of the position.

Ojankaivaja wants to finish this one by submission but Billington is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Ojankaivaja.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Billington is in a horrible position here. Ojankaivaja smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Ojankaivaja is working to isolate an arm here. It's a choreographed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Ojankaivaja extends the arm and Billington is forced to tap!
