PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between King Lexter Tanglao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Venom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Venom has chosen Orbital Smasher as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Venom tries to grapple but his opponent circles

so Tanglao counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Tanglao would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Venom is adopting a defensive guard.

Venom looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Venom controls Tanglao momentarily but Tanglao frees himself.
Tanglao engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Tanglao wants to control from the top but Venom keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Venom wriggles free and stands up.
Venom wants to clinch but Tanglao slips to the side

and Tanglao counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Venom wants to improve his position but Tanglao is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tanglao decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Tanglao fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Venom, pushing him back against the cage.
Venom tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Tanglao pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Tanglao pushes Venom up against the cage in a clinch.

Tanglao manages to break the clinch.
Venom closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tanglao circles away.

and Venom decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tanglao's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Venom slips nicely into half guard.

Tanglao is looking to control Venom's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tanglao avoid being mounted?
Venom trying to control from half guard but Tanglao is working away.
Tanglao wants to get back to his feet.
Tanglao is breathing heavily.

Tanglao looking for submissions off his back.
Venom content to control rather than advance.
Venom throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Venom is taking a breather. Tanglao says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Tanglao wants to control but Venom is keeping busy.
Venom seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Venom escapes and gets back to his feet.
A combination from Venom does no damage.

Venom shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Venom moves into full mount! Tanglao won't be happy about that!
Venom thowing shots but they're missing.
Venom throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Tanglao tries to reverse the position but Venom maintains control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tanglao tries to control the position but Venom now has his back.
Tanglao covering up well and avoiding damage.

Venom has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Tanglao is in real trouble here. Venom gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Tanglao is tapping out! Venom wins by rear naked choke!
