PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mad Reid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Spat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reid comes to the cage accompanied by Don't Save Us From The Flames. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mad Reid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Spat!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Dmitry Maklakov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spat shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Reid cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Spat tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Reid connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


It looks like Jack Spat has been cut.
Reid connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Reid stuffs the takedown.
Spat tries to clinch
and Reid counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Spat gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Reid counters with a right hand to the body.
Mad Reid has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Spat.

Spat doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Reid cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Spat is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spat is trying to control the action in half guard but Reid is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Reid is positioning himself well to prevent Spat advancing to mount.
Reid wants to control but Spat is keeping busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Spat closes the distance looking to clinch
and Reid counters with a stiff right hand.

Reid keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Reid swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Spat.
Reid is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Reid works Spat's body with a nice hook.
Reid throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Reid looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Reid ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Spat moves away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Spat tries for a takedown but Reid sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jack Spat is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Reid jabs Spat right on the nose. Spat blinks but takes it well.
Reid connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Reid lands with a nice body punch.
Mad Reid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Spat takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Spat misses with a takedown attempt
and Reid counters with a left to the body.
Spat gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Reid scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Spat takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Reid lands with a straight right. Spat didn't see that one coming.
Spat changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Reid tries to avoid it but Spat manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Reid to the ground. Reid escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Reid lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Reid misses with a wild combination.

and Reid counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Spat slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Reid is on top in guard.

Reid stands and steps away. Spat gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Spat has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Spat there as he acknowledges the shot.

Reid leaves Spat with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Reid, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
