PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Souka Sudoka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Heke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Heke has chosen She Hates Me as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sudoka keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Sudoka fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Heke sprawls well initially but Sudoka persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sudoka drops back, looking for a kneebar! Heke looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Heke looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Heke!

Heke is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Sudoka will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Heke wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sudoka keeps working.
A lull in the action here as Heke stalls from top position.
You can see the frustration on Sudoka's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Heke tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jake Heke wasn't active enough on the ground.
Heke misses with an uppercut. Sudoka saw that one coming.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Heke lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Heke looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Sudoka uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Heke.
The crowd cheers as Heke lands an impressive looking overhand right. Sudoka doesn't seem phased though.

and Heke counters with a crisp one two that drops Sudoka! Heke thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Sudoka to his feet! Sudoka is in big trouble!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jake Heke showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Heke shoots in looking for a takedown. Sudoka tries to sprawl out of it but Heke keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sudoka manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Sudoka is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sudoka takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sudoka accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
