Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Harold Cheese!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anton Howard!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cheese falls off balance throwing a combination
letting Howard counter with a right hand.

Cheese shoots in and gets a takedown into Howard's guard.

Cheese postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Howard is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cheese, into his guard.
Howard wants to stand and escape but instead Cheese has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Cheese drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Howard dives on top into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Howard throws a big right hand that misses.
Cheese looking for a sweep. Not yet Cheese, not yet.
Howard wants to get up but he can't break Cheese's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cheese is on top in guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Cheese drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cheese jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Cheese trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Howard can do anything to dispel that myth.
Howard is wriggling around but Cheese manages to pass to half guard.

Cheese stalling.
Cheese not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Cheese with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Cheese throwing shots but Howard is blocking nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Still in half guard, Cheese seems content to control.
Cheese has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cheese wants to pass the guard but Howard is defending well.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Howard wants to get back to his feet.
Cheese not doing much here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Howard lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Nice uppercut lands for Howard. That snapped Cheese's head back.
Howard misses with a lunging right hand

and Cheese counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Well, if Cheese is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Cheese is trying to work for a kimura but Howard is defending well.

Howard is defending against the submission attempts here by Cheese.
Cheese is just content to waste time from the top position. Howard takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Howard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cheese. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Cheese passes Howard's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Howard avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Cheese.

Cheese is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Cheese wants to pass the guard but Howard is defending well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cheese is taking a breather. Howard says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Cheese wants to take a breather but Howard is having none of it.
Cheese seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Cheese seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Howard for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Howard throws a predictable looking body shot
and Cheese counters with a series of strikes. Howard will be more careful next time no doubt.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Cheese pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Howard keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Cheese lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Harold Cheese is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.


It looks like Anton Howard has been cut.
Cheese sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cheese has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

We're going to have a standup here because Harold Cheese wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Cheese has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Cheese there as he acknowledges the shot.

And that's the end of the fight!
Harold Cheese showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cheese, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
