Ames comes to the cage accompanied by Break down the walls. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James tries to bum rush Ames with a series of wild strikes but Ames uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ames misses with a takedown
and James connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Ames misses with a double jab.
Ames shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and James counters with a stiff right hand.
Ames with a poor takedown
and James counters with a nice uppercut.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Ames. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ames misses with a wild body shot.
Ames on the wrong end of a nice jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
James fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ames looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
James pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
James thuds a left hand into Ames's body.
James cracks Ames with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Ames looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can James finish him?
Ames is rocked!
Ames glances at the clock... BAM! James nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Ames crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Ames is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Fresenius James!
